Barb is a psychic medium.  She will receive information in her mind from your loved one that only you will understand.  This is called evidential mediumship. 

As a clairvoyant, she mostly receives this information in the form of images in her mind's eye but will also hear messages or receive communication through sensations or through her feelings.

A mediumship experience is a 'partnership' between you, your departed loved one and the medium.  The medium is the conduit or channel through which the communication is received.  The strength of the communication depends on many things including how well your loved one can 'send' at this point, how well the medium can receive and even your intention and state of mind.
